A Very Girly First Birthday Party

It happened. We raised a child without killing ourselves or said child for a whole year. Actually – I think we did surprisingly well ūüôā And that’s cause for celebration. If you’ve been keeping up with me from the beginning here you’ll know¬†we didn’t find out if we were having a girl or boy (see this post or this one if you want more details on gender-neutral baby world things) and we loved every moment of our beautiful surprise. That being said, I didn’t have any super girly or super boyish baby prep festivities. So for this little girl’s first birthday I decided to make up for it – the theme would be all things GIRLY. Bring on the pink, sparkle, flowers & frill!

Sweets for a Sweet Little Girl’s Party

White chocolate? Chocolate and strawberries? But some people are a salty sweet kind of person. How does one choose what to make for a birthday party? My answer is don’t! When it comes to sweets – make it all!! There’s only a few times a year you get to go totally crazy with your baking creations. Now if that’s just ridiculous, cool – choose whichever of these creations tickles your fancy – you can’t go wrong.

Mouthwatering Tropical Desserts!

And here it is folks, the last of the¬†tropical pool party¬†posts (if you missed the previous post – check out the¬†savory¬†food here!). Don’t worry, it’s made a little sweeter by being filled with my¬†tasty treats! This dessert table was all about the fruity goodness including Mini Key Lime Cheesecakes & Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizzas (GREAT to do with the kiddos!). Of course no dessert table is complete without chocolate in my mind so I tried out this AMAZING recipe by The Pioneer Woman – she’s one of my favs – for Knock You Naked Brownies (I did not name them…blame it on Pioneer Woman). And just when I thought my dessert list was complete I came across the most adorable Sand Dollar Sugar Cookies and couldn’t pass them up. Make one, make all I can’t pick a favorite!

Must try tropical party recipes

Alright guys, the long-awaited recipes from our oh-so-yummy tropical pool party!¬†With the tropical theme I knew I wanted kabobs and then wanted to compliment with a pool party must – burgers! These Aloha burgers are TO DIE FOR. Seriously, I’ve already made a second batch to freeze so we can pull them out when we get a hankering. And instead of fries I went for our favorites: sweet potato stackers & parmesan roasted cauliflower. Come on yall¬†– it’s summer time so get to grilling!

Tropical Pool Party: Decorations

Confession: I’ve been meaning to throw a pool party for two years. No lie. My husband and I have seriously been talking about doing it for that long. And finally, we planned to throw a beginning of summer pool party for May 30 about two months ago. I literally sent the eVite out about six weeks in advance so that we would actually do it. And it was such a blast!

House Tour: Come On In Y’all!

If you ever stop by our house, no matter the occasion, my husband will most likely give you a big hug, drag the puppies to the backyard¬†so they don’t trample you, fix you a drink and then do his favorite thing – take you on a tour. It’s so sweet¬†to hear him explain all the details of what I’ve done and fun to hear the¬†pride beaming in his voice as he says, “we found this at an antique store.” – Oh ya, best husband ever. He loves the great finds almost as much as I do! – So, I’ve taken a cue from my hubby the past couple weeks and have been¬†leading my Instagram family on a tour of my home (sorry, no drinks!). This was never meant to be a blog post but as I took these pictures day after day and told the stories of whats created this house I realized there was so much more to share than what I was able to post in fleeting Instagram moments. So, here are my favorite Instagram moments including all the details.¬†Hope you enjoy this house we have made into our home – we sure do!

Video My Pin: Letter Planter

I don’t know about you but I am much more of a visual/try it on my own¬†type of learner. I also love all things DIY, baking, cooking, etc. The sad truth is, the majority of the instructional info for these types of activities are just written & photographed – not videod. Which means there is a lot of trial and error until I finally get things the way I have in my head. How much easier it would be if someone could show me and give me tips along the way! And so it begins,¬†Video My Pin. Video My Pin is my¬†ongoing series here on this little blog where I invite anyone and everyone to send me a Pin and get a free video tutorial in return. I’ll do most anything aside from knitting & crocheting projects – mostly because those take way more time than I’m willing to commit at the moment ūüôā

Carnival themed couples baby shower! l C is for Carnival - funyumandfrills.com

C is for Carnival!

Have I mentioned lately that everyone is getting married and having babies? AND I LOVE IT! Seriously, two of life’s most life changing events you’ll ever go through: getting married and having a child. Experiencing these in your life is one thing…having the privilege to watch your friends walk this path too, almost at the same time, is just magical. And of course the fact that it all calls for parties is pretty great too!

Game Night: Poker Night

As mentioned in my Tea Cup & Martini Glass Flower Centerpieces¬†post, the hubs was having a poker night and I just couldn’t help myself – I needed to cook, bake and entertain! Plus, I justified it all by saying it was practice for a big future game night or casino themed party. I mean, who can resist a theme?
